We are a small family company called Hembacka Kemiö Oy offering beekeeping and bed and breakfast accommodation. We first bought Hembacka estate for our summer cottage in 2004. After renovating the buildings and garden and encouragement from our friends we first started to develop the idea of offering low-priced accommodation to travelers. This entrepreneurship is only secondary to our main jobs and focuses on summer time when beekeeping also keeps us busy.
Being and living in Hembacka centres around the ideology of self-made and/or nearby produced activities and products. We aim to minimize our environmental burden, safeguard our own natural garden and take biological biodiversity into account in everyday life as well as to convey these ideas to our guests.
All the necessary renovations are carried out respecting traditional techniques without equipping old buildings with “unnecessary” conveniences.
